The Danube River

Take a cruise across the enchanting Danube River. Many of the cruise packages available for this area take you on a journey to several grand cities and quaint villages along the way from Budapest Hungary to Nuremburg.  On these tours you will be able to explore both sides of Hungary's capital the traditional Buda and the modernized Pest. You can also see how the River divides the magical city while you admire the brilliant Vienna architecture and take part in the gracious culture. Take a moment to enjoy a authentic entree and learn about the all the legends of the area. While you are on one of these glorious cruises you will begin to understand why the Blue Danube was one of Strauss' most famous melodies.

The Buda Hills

Enjoy climbing the great Buda Hills while staying in Budapest Hungary. Janos hegy, which is one of the highest points in the city is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the area. The trip up the hill can typically take around five hours to complete so you should be prepared to spend the entire day outdoors. It is a good idea to get started in the morning around 9:00AM. If not, you may end up missing the chairlift. Once you reach the top, you can take the train to Buda Hills. Once you reach Szechenyl-hegy station you can have a meal at the local cafe or stop by the park and let the children enjoy the railway designed especially for them. You can later catch another train to the Janos hegy station  where your next stop will be the Janos hill and chair lift. It takes about twenty minutes to reach the chair lift where you can enjoy a view from Erzsebet look-out tower.

Hortobagy is also the home for many Hungary folklore traditions such as horseback riding and there are several places in the area where tourists can enjoy a ride through the Plains.

The Great Plain

The Northern Great Plain in Hungary has many things for tourists to do, such as visit the Hortobagy National Park. This large natural grassland in Europe has been a UNESCO World Heritage site ever since 1999 due to the large amount of animals that call the place home, especially the birds. The classic symbol of the park is the Nine-holed bridge that was built between 1827 and 1833. It was the very first stone bridge in Hungary.

The Buda Hills and the Danube River are just a sample of the many great tourist spots you can visit when you take a trip to the beautiful city of Budapest Hungary.
